As a Residential Advisor, I oversaw a residential community of over 50 Columbia students. I aided residents with housing, personal, and academic concerns. I organized 2-3 programs a month and was widely known as hosting very fun events, like a Floor Prom. I mentored residents, helping them secure research positions and improve their studying. I monitored resident’s happiness and adjustment, performing wellness checks on students who raised concern. Lastly, I enforced COVID, alcohol, and drug policies. This job taught me how to balance being a friend and an authority figure.

As a Tour Guide for Columbias Undergraduate Recruitment Committee, I led weekly campus tours for four years. In my role as the Tour Captain, which I held for five semesters, I was the head Tour Guide for our tour time. I oversaw ten other Tour Guides, assisted in their training, introduced campus visitors to Columbia, and separated guests into their tour groups. Beyond my weekly tour commitments, I participated in panels, Q&A’s, and live streams for prospective and admitted students. I also mentored incoming freshman before and during the academic year through the Lion Connect program.

In the Student Interviewing Program, I interviewed global high school seniors applying for admission to Columbia. Because I am from a military background, I appreciate the upward battle of college admissions. Thus, I made it my mission to interview as many military and public school candidates as possible. I developed questions beyond those suggested that helped me dig deeper into the applicants’ passions and fit for Columbia. In fact, an Admissions Officer told me my evaluations were flagged as the “most effective reports during the [2025] application review process.”

As the Secretary General of the Columbia Model United Nations Conference and Exposition XXI, I was in charge of organizing the Model United Nations conference for 800 global high schoolers and 200 Columbia volunteers. I recruited and oversaw 20 board members on the Secretariat, managed the budget, and coordinated with Undergraduate Student Life Advisors on Columbias bureaucracy. One of my proudest accomplishments was developing and implementing a robust financial aid program for attendees who otherwise could not be afford to attend our conference. I wanted to bring the conference to a 50% in-person modality after a year of the pandemic, and all went according to plan until days before the conference when Columbia changed their COVID protocols, so we had to shift to a 100% online conference in three days. Despite the last minute adjustment, it was an incredibly successful conference without any technical difficulties or logistical glitches. Many advisors said it was the best conference they had attended in years.

My sophomore year, I craved mentorship in all things pre-health. I had joined clubs, but none provided me with the tailored help I needed. So, I co-founded Columbia Women in Medicine to support fellow female undergraduate pre-medical students. I served as the Vice President and created a robust mentorship program. I helped recruit other board members, and I co-wrote our organizations Constitution. As a board, we hosted biweekly panels featuring doctors, medical students, and medical school admissions officers from a variety of programs and backgrounds. I firmly believe that everyone deserves a fair shot at their goals, so I took the initiative to create opportunities for more women like me.

As the USG of Public Relations for CMUNCE XX, a Model United Nations conference, I was responsible for recruitment, communication with schools, registration, merchandise, and social media.

As a Research Assistant, I worked on an experiment exploring emotions. Previous studies found that brains map a variety of affective states within a single patch of cortex. We used continuous ratings of perceived emotions elicited by a film to analyze if it is easier to move between emotional states that occupy the same cortex. I recruited and scheduled participants, ran the study, and debriefed participants. I was trained in fMRI, but COVID halted our progress. My work made me better appreciate the scientific process. From my research and coursework, I am skilled at reading and critiquing research papers.

This internship was unfortunately cancelled due to COVID-19. However, I would have been working directly with children diagnosed with ADHD implementing behavioral therapy alongside Dr. Vasco Lopes, a child psychiatrist.

At GlobeMed, I fundraised to support GWEDG, a grassroots program to support pregnant women with HIV safely give birth in Uganda. I helped organize a conference on climate change’s impact on public health, and I invested a lot of time into learning about global public health issues.
