I was responsible for the health, safety, and overall well-being of 20 American college and graduate students during their Chinese language studies at National Tsinghua University. My responsibilities included: • Supported students on call 24/7 and accompanying them during health emergencies, weekly cultural activities, and bi-monthly weekend school trips to Taipei and Taichung• One-on-one meetings with students for mid-program check-ins and as needed• Wrote weekly and mid-program reports • Organized weekly meetings with all of the students, local host University staff and regularly met with my supervisor• Accompanied students on weekly cultural activities and two overnight excursions to Taipei and Nantou (Sun Moon Lake)• Supported students during natural disasters that occurred this summer, like Typhoon Gaemi and 2 earthquakes• Provided tea for students for our weekly RD meetings • Organized fun group bonding activities for the students, such as dinners, movie outings and karaoke• Other duties as assigned

• Assisted the Vice President & Executive Director of The Asia Group's (TAG) Foundation by arranging weekly company lunches, supporting teams with various podcast, website, or outreach projects, and organizing TAG’s annual holiday event for 55 to 75 people

• Served as a Graduate Student Assistant at Georgetown University’s Walsh School of Foreign Service’s (SFS) Career Center• Posted various job and internship opportunities for SFS' graduate students and communicated with relevant departments

• Read, evaluated and made decisions for the Class of 2023 and Class of 2024 out of 32,000 applications• Conducted weekly admission information sessions for prospective students and families • Responded to daily phone calls and email inquiries about the admission process at Princeton University• Traveled to local college fairs and high schools across the U.S. in order to connect with various high school students, community-based organizations, guidance counselors and Princeton alumni in order to recruit prospective applicants

• Collaborated with a Taiwanese English teacher to effectively teach over 200 Taiwanese elementary school students in 3rd to 6th grade at 2 public elementary schools in Taitung City• Created and wrote bi-monthly lesson plans and reports, actively engaged in bi-monthly theoretical and practical education workshops, and participated with all of the fellow 90+ Fulbright ETAs, scholars, and graduate students at professional development conferences in Taipei throughout the year• Volunteered on a weekly basis to teach English tourism classes at Taitung City’s County Government and launched an Ultimate Frisbee team at National Taitung University consisting of 20+ university students• Invited to speak about my Fulbright at Grinnell College’s Global Fellowships and Awards Symposium in April 2018 (supported by the Eric Secoy ’83 Gift)

• Served as a Student Advisor to six other American and international students from Chile, India, and Brazil• Organized German cultural nights, house dinners, and campus wide events for members of the Grinnell community• Worked with German Language Assistant from Humboldt Universität in Berlin to foster an inclusive, cross-cultural, and productive German language learning environment

• Attended leadership summits at Harvard University and UC Berkeley to facilitate discussion on U.S.-China relations, to teach community mobilization, and to engage in grassroots organizing skills based on a course by Harvard Professor Marshall Ganz• Founded Grinnell’s Project Pengyou Chapter that aimed to foster dialogue on U.S.-China relations, to create a sustainable community that is built on shared stories of living or studying abroad in China, and to provide support, resources, and professional connections for students who are passionate about China• Managed a 5 person leadership team and trained 33 fellows in community organizing, mobilization around a common purpose, and cross-cultural exchange through interpersonal interactions• Organized events for over 200 people, wrote budget proposals, and outreached to students to market our Grinnell Chapter

• Conducted independent thesis research on Grinnell’s history of cross-cultural exchange with China through two different educational programs: Grinnell-in-China (1916-1941) and Grinnell-Nanjing Exchange (1987-Present)• Investigated the impact of twentieth century Christian missionaries from the Grinnell community in Dezhou, China• Interviewed contemporary Chinese students and teachers in Nanjing in order to contribute to existing scholarship on Grinnell’s history with China for the college’s Special Collections Archives

• Catalogued, archived, and organized documents related to the history of Grinnell College’s cross-cultural engagement with China as part of a Digital History Documentation Project

• Served as a Student Advisor to eight other American and international Chinese student residents and supported them in adjusting to cultural challenges and to living in the United States • Organized Chinese cultural events, study breaks, and house dinners for members of the Grinnell community

• One out of one-hundred students accepted nation-wide to attend the China Leadership Summit hosted by Duke University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC) • Collaborated with 9 other delegates in a team to strategize and to write an action memo on U.S-India-China relations• Participated in roundtable discussions on U.S. China Grand Strategy in the Asia Pacific, Africa, and Beyond

• Organized meetings regarding study abroad opportunities in China on campus• Hosted a CET representative on campus and organized a study abroad event for CET’s China Programs• Wrote a review for GoOverseas.com about my semester abroad in Beijing

• Assisted the Manager and the Director of Quantum Inc. (a comprehensive foreign language services company for translation and interpretation in the medical and legal fields in Philadelphia) • Filed and organized papers, made calls to various language interpreters and clients, and edited spreadsheets in Microsoft Excel for the company

• Helped to organize weekly chamber music concerts, conducted surveys, page-turned for visiting artists, and handed out programs at concerts for the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra (SSO)• Recorded the English version of concert etiquette, edited the English version of the SSO’s website, and created a Facebook page for the SSO• Wrote a research paper on American chamber music festivals
