Throughout my career I’ve been engaged on projects in the “heavy current” areas of electrical engineering – high-voltage systems for power utilities, heavy industries, factory automation, and data center construction. Within 10 years of graduation, I turned around a failing company, which launched my 20-year career in general management. Grew sales from zero to $5 million and controlled the full P&L. • Business Development: For Schneider Electric, created a new area of business – turnkey creation of big data centers – by leveraging personal expertise in power technology, mechanical engineering, finance, and sales. • Achieved major wins for Schneider that broke records for profitability and technical achievement. Breakthrough projects included data centers for First Rand Group and Johannesburg Stock Exchange. • M&A Integration: Drove a fast and seamless integration of MGE and APC into the Schneider Electric Group – 2 companies with vast cultural and organizational differences – and worked around problems that had affected other regions.
