When I am on a project or training managers, I spend 80% of my time on the floor working directly with the others involved. This includes team members, contractors and OEM people. I make myself available to them and by working closely with them, I become a "go- to resource." This rapport with the people doing the work yields better results. Certainly there are meetings and they are important to share information. I don't allow meetings to consume precious time and the meetings are controlled with start and stop times. Everyone in the meeting gets their say. Everyone is assigned work and a time frame to complete. Everything is recorded on paper. Everyone has a copy. No misunderstandings. WE get results.
