In this position I am primarily tasked with the design of Photovoltaic Distribution Boards (PVDBs) as well as a variety of other systems for the renewable energy industry. While in this position I have tasked myself with making massive improvements to the drawing process to increase efficiency in the workshop and bringing schematics to the customer on time.Through this position I have become very familiar with the electrical drawing package SkyCAD.Another aspect of my role has been assembly of systems developing my skills in electrical wiring and mechanical construction.I am also occasionally tasked with programming the PLCs that control the PVDBs, as well as configuring a variety of communications equipment that are used within the systems, aiding my skills in programming for logic controllers and device configuration.

Within this placement I have been working as part of the Engineering Delivery Optimisation team at TfL working to help improve how engineering is done within the organisation. As part of my role I have been involved in helping to identify changes between current and new proposed standards as well as developing an internal tool to store and find reference designs for projects.

As President of the ACSE Society I was in charge of a committee of 10 representatives from the ACSE cohort. Together we ran an assortment of events for the students in the department, including; a trip to Siemens in Manchester, a Q&A session with the Industrial Advisory Board, a pizza & quiz social, an interactive session using the Universal Robots UR5 (thanks to Siemens) and of course the end of year ball as well as many more. As part of this role, I also had the chance to work with the department on several occasions to bring the thoughts of the students forward to the staff to help benefit everyone on the course.

Working with the Bioprocesses Team at Labman Automation over the Summer

Working with the Sheffield Students Union as part of the Technical Services Committee to bring club nights to life. As part of this role, I was trained in sound, light and video production for events, as well as completing a full health and safety course to ensure best working practises were followed. During my time here, I stage managed several club nights as well as regularly working as a sound technician.

I was the Operations Officer for the Automatic Control & Systems Engineering Society at the University of Sheffield. In this role I managed the Societys communication stream as well as organising meetings and taking minutes. I also assisted with the wider running of the Society during our fortnightly meetings where we organised socials, trips and a variety of other activities.
