Summary

Writer | Creative Consultant | Integrated MarComms | RSA Fellow. I am a senior communications and marketing leader who specialises in turning complicated information into straightforward content for target audiences. I offer a specific skill set within a unique career producing and directing content across several sectors: media, international NGOs, innovation/start-up, research and higher education institutes. I have spent recent years as a global consultant, communicating impact from a broad portfolio within research, innovation, and creative communities. My career is rooted in communication and engagement strategy, digital asset building, traditional/social media, content marketing, brand management, creative UX development, and media production, enabling me to customise my storytelling through different mediums and channels across several platforms. As a research-based, content creator and strategist with hands-on production experience, I morph data and project outcomes into great storytelling. (Dual UK/US citizen) As a journalist and creative writer, I have contributed to BBC Radio Scotland, BBC Radio 4, The Independent, The Guardian, Forbes, Marie Claire US, British Vogue with my work syndicated in Yahoo News and CBS Radio News. I have been an on-air guest contributor for MSNBC and most recently studio guest for BBC Radio Scotland. I reported for the News and Observer and its sister publications, Free Speech Radio News, VHI and MTV Radio Network. As an editorial leader, I wrote and Executive Produced an audio feature series that won a Regional Edward R. Murrow award (nominated for National) for “Best Use of Sound”. An experienced interviewer, I have conducted 1:1, courtroom, press junket, and event interviews of A-Level Actors, Authors, Musicians, Politicians. and Cultural icons such as Jane Goodall, DBE, Actor George Clooney, CEO and Co-Chairman of the Hip-Hop Summit Action Network Ben Chavis, and Kathleen Cleaver of The Black Panther Party. My international experience includes projects in El Salvador, Ghana, Guatemala, Kenya, Liberia, Europe and The United Kingdom. I hold a master’s degree in Science Communication and Public Engagement from the University of Edinburgh, a postgraduate certificate in Documentary Arts, specialising in audio, from the Center of Documentary Studies at Duke University, and a bachelor’s degree in mass communication with a minor in professional writing from Meredith College.
