(1 year 4 months) • Improved the quality of volunteer management within the London Emergency Response service using a research methodology approach. Assessed volunteer needs, skills and knowledge to deliver key guiding documents, standard operating procedures and a targeted training plan for line managers. These products have been replicated by counterparts within the organisation across the country. • Came forward to fill a gap in volunteer management capacity taking on additional responsibilities and contributing to improving communication between staff and volunteers. Using my people management skills in this role led to being trusted with recruiting and line managing a new staff member. • Measurably improved service planning to embed an effective and positive focus on equality, diversity and inclusion. Improved communication among stakeholders, staff and volunteers led to increased volunteer engagement

(1 year 3 months) • Worked on two projects as part of this placement. Aiming to explore predictors of outcomes in patients with chronic liver disease and exploring potential connections between cirrhosis and colon cancer. • Improved skills in research techniques, IT usage, collaborative teamwork, and working independently with minimal supervision. A notable improvement in MS Excel and SPSS skills for data analysis.

6 years 4 months (2 years 11 months) • Managed the ICRC’s nutrition programme in Syria. Delivered high-quality reporting and monitoring of the national situation based on field visits and coordination with operating partners. Identified priority areas and led the implementation of a successful nutritional intervention programme. Developed project management and informed decision-making skills. • Managed the ICRC’s livelihood structural support programme to essential public structures in Syria. Improved negotiation skills and ability to work through challenging contexts. • Took on additional responsibilities assessing the humanitarian situation. Learned annual budget planning, delivering project proposals and timely comprehensive reporting to partners and donors. Improved time management skills and the ability to prioritise workloads.

(1 year 3 months) Participated to various volunteering activities during the emergency response to the Syrian conflict including needs assessment inside and outside collective shelters, health situation assessment, hygiene promotion, planning camp location, distributing humanitarian aid and relief items to internally displaced population (IDPs) in addition to emergency response reporting.
