Brickbooster2018.01-2021.04(3 years)(3 years 4 months) My proudest and onlyest indiehack! * Developed and marketed an SMS based marketing SaaS for brick-n-mortar SMEs * Set a KPI for this to measure success by time-to-revenue * From writing the first line of code, first customer was signed in 4 weeks❗❗ money in bank@6weeks (winning!) * Service was based on tailored printed slips with almost-universally-unique codes that could be used by patrons to claim benefits on a repeat visit * SaaS was developed in python, django and vue-js, and then-current-version of bootstrap * Signed 10 restaurants by way of personalized demo after a cold-call booking (5-8% hit rate) * Charged 150€ + VAT / month. CLTV was around 2.5x that * Had 80% automated ops for running clients: filled out customer form at end of demo, scripts and IFTTT handled creating printable PDFs and ordering the slips (with shipping to clients) from supplier, and of course invoicing through a partner * Did a cool dashboard for clients to use that NOBODY USED turns out restauranteurs were not data-driven * Had an unreleased v2 that would have brought self-service printed slip design tool (vue & Django REST) AND a lookalike audience generator based on the most satisfied customers a client had * Discovered that to run this hack from cashflow I would need to spend most of time cold-calling for demo bookings, and not have enough time for hacking, then suddenly my next boss called ☝❗... *Fun fact:* First demo I held, and one that was used to make that sweet record time revenue, was built (very stupidly in retrospect :D) so that if I texted a typo during the demo it could have caused a nasty loop that would have not only burned through my SMS Gateway quota on the same sitting, but also caused a crash that would render service unavailable before the response was received in situ ♂❗ *Key learning:* Selling by hand at beginning is doable – even desirable for fast learnings – but you want out of that pretty fast as an indiehackerDigital Product Manager
