I am an enthusiastic biological science and health service researcher driven to positively change healthcare in the UK.. I am an enthusiastic PhD Graduate and a Research Officer who thrives on learning new skills and taking on challenges. I completed my BSc in biological sciences at the University of Leicester in 2015, graduating with a 2.1 and completing two awards. I then completed an MSc in Biotechnology, bioprocessing and business management at the University of Warwick from October 2015 to October 2016 and graduated with distinction. I completed a Biological Science PhD at Swansea University in 2021. During my studies, I developed numerous laboratory and scientific writing skills. I was fortunate to be a student demonstrator whilst completing my PhD, where I enjoyed assisting with the undergraduate laboratory classes and marking laboratory reports and essays. This enabled me to develop my communication skills, allowing me to explain theories or techniques to students whilst providing constructive feedback on their written work. While writing my PhD thesis, I became a manager for a COVID-19 mobile testing team for Sodexo in the Hywel Dda Health board. I managed a team of 10 operatives to conduct COVID-19 testing for the general public. During this challenging time, it was fulfilling to offer support to the public, helping to keep the public safer. Although this differed from working in the laboratory, I thrived on the new experience and learned management skills. I aimed to ensure my team was always safe and felt supported and happy in the role they were doing while ensuring we were providing the best service possible to the public. This position required substantial planning and organisation skills to ensure the sites we attended were secure and fit for use. I am a Research Manager and Officer in Health Services Research at Swansea University. I am part of an ambitious team of researchers evaluating current and new interventions, healthcare policies and services across the UK. In this role, I am expanding my management and research skills, challenging my presenting techniques at conferences and honing my communication skills with various people, from public and patient meetings to healthcare professional interviews and reporting to funders in meetings.
