  JOB DESCRIPTION Sew, join, reinforce, or finish, usually with needle and thread, in variety of manufactured items. Includes weavers and stitches. Design make, alter, repair or fit garments. Record Required alteration and instructions on tags and attach them into garments. Read work orders and apply knowledge and experience with the materials to determine types and amounts of materials required to cover workplaces. Operate sewing machines or sew upholstery by hand to scam cushions and join various sections of covering material. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Press garments using hand irons or pressing machine. Assemble garment parts and join parts with basting stitches, using needles and thread or sewing machines. Confer with customers to determine types of material and garment styles desired. Develop, copy, or adapt designs for garments and design patterns to fit measurements, applying knowledge of garment design, construction, styling and fabric. Fit, alter, repair and make made to measure clothing, according to customer’s and clothing manufacturer’s specification and fit, applying principles of garment design, construction and styling. Fit and study garments on customers to determine requires alterations. Position pattern of garment part on fabric, and cut fabric along outlines using scissors. Repair or replace defective garments part such as pockets, sippers, snaps, buttons and linings. Draws and cuts pattern according to specifications. Sew garments using needles and thread or sewing machines.
