We are looking for Java developers in Beijing, China to join a small team in building a technology-centric hedge fund from the ground up. You will be working with a small group of talented individuals building a black-box trading platform that executes liquidity and quantitative strategies for trading equities. This entails building software that will include quantitative analysis, trade execution, and risk management. The founder of Blue Basin is Edward Tolson, who will be on the ground in Beijing leading the development of the trading platform. Applicants will be working directly with Mr. Tolson. From 2003 to 2012, Mr. Tolson served as Managing Director of JP Morgan Chase’s hedge fund subsidiary Highbridge Capital Management, LLC, a hedge fund manager with $30 billion USD in assets under management. Prior to joining Highbridge, Mr. Tolson co-founded a proprietary high-frequency trading company. Mr. Tolson has a Bachelors and Masters in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he graduated tied at top of class. Mr. Tolson has conversational Chinese language abilities.QualificationsIdeal candidates have proficiency in the Java programming language. We are seeking to staff junior, mid, and senior level positions. Bachelor degrees in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field are preferred but not required. Professional or personal experience in investing or financial services is beneficial, but not required. Because Mr. Tolson has only conversational Chinese language abilities, applicants must have at least basic English language skills, with advanced skills preferred.
