Job responsibilities
Role Overview As HR Manager, you will be the first full-time HR leader in the United States, responsible for end-to-end people operations—from recruiting and onboarding to performance management, compliance, and culture-building. You will create scalable processes that enable aggressive head-count growth while ensuring exceptional employee experience and full adherence to federal, state (CA), and local regulations. Key Responsibilities. 【Talent Acquisition】 • Partner with hiring managers to forecast head-count needs and craft compelling job descriptions. • Manage full-cycle recruiting: sourcing, interviewing, offer negotiation, and pre-boarding. • Build relationships with tech schools, maker communities, and industry events to deepen candidate pipelines. 【Onboarding & Training】 • Design and deliver a structured 30-60-90 onboarding framework. • Coordinate technical and compliance training; track completion in the HRIS/LMS. • Launch manager enablement sessions for interviewing, feedback, and coaching skills. 【Performance & Culture】 • Implement goal-setting (OKRs), annual/bi-annual reviews, and continuous feedback loops. • Champion core values and DEI initiatives; plan engagement surveys and action items. • Mediate employee-relations issues with empathy and legal rigor. 【Total Rewards & HR Operations】 • Administer benefits, 401(k), and equity programs; drive open enrollment and vendor negotiations. • Maintain HRIS data integrity, HR metrics dashboards, and compliance reporting (ACA, EEO-1, OSHA). • Benchmark compensation and craft salary structures that balance competitiveness and budget. 【Compliance & Risk】 • Ensure adherence to CA labor laws (wage-hour, leaves, terminations) and federal regulations (FLSA, FMLA). • Own policy creation and updates—handbook, code of conduct, safety protocols. • Manage immigration matters (H-1B, OPT, L-1) alongside counsel. 【Scaling & Process Improvement】 • Identify and automate manual HR workflows; evaluate and implement best-fit HR tech. • Provide data-driven insights to leadership on turnover, engagement, and productivity. • Build playbooks for future expansion to additional US sites and field teams. Minimum Qualifications  Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field.  6+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 2 years in a stand-alone or lead role.  Demonstrated expertise in CA employment law and multi-state HR practices.  Proven success implementing HRIS/ATS platforms and scaling from ~50 to 200+ employees.  Strong analytical skills; comfortable with HR metrics, compensation analysis, and budget planning.  Excellent interpersonal, facilitation, and conflict-resolution abilities.
