Summary

As a Mandarin teacher with teaching experience in both China and the UK, I believe language education is more than teaching vocabulary and grammar—it is about building bridges of cultural understanding. After graduating in 2023 with a degree in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages, I was assigned to London, where I taught Mandarin at two public primary schools. Working with students from EYFS to Key Stage 2, I gained extensive K–12 teaching experience while independently designing curricula and teaching materials. I also guided students preparing for the YCT exam, achieving a pass rate of over 70%, and organized cultural activities such as Chinese New Year dumpling-making events and International Culture Week. In 2025, I joined GoEast Mandarin School in Shanghai, where I expanded my experience by teaching learners from middle and high school students to adult professionals. This broadened age range strengthened my ability to deliver personalized instruction, adapting my teaching methods to different learning styles and goals so that students can make clear and meaningful progress. Beyond classroom teaching, I also contribute to winter and summer camp programs, gaining experience in activity planning, organization, and promotion. I collaborate with the marketing team on content creation, including scriptwriting and topic planning, and frequently appear in the school’s official social media videos to present language and cultural content. With over 2,000 hours of teaching experience, I specialize in cross-cultural communication, curriculum design, and event planning, and work fluently in both Chinese and English.
