I have led teams designing immersion program models. I have facilitated staff professional development. I have led presentations and presented at conferences at the local and national level regarding dual immersion program and specific aspects of program development and instructional design. I have trained new and existing staff on program best practices. I have facilitated community collaboration projects for school staff, activating them as partners in their childrens learning. I have led committees and groups focused on specific aspects of curriculum, school systems and structures, and improvement plans. I have consulted in the development of Spanish/English Dual Immersion programs in Oregon and in Costa Rica.

As we shifted from the South American school calendar back to the North American one and a new international school headship at UWC Thailand, we decided to take a COVID-safe travelling sabbatical in order to move home safely and far from the crowds. Travelling by bicycle as much as possible, surfing everywhere we could, staying away from groups of people, and spending quality time together as a family was our priority as we moved carefully through Central America, Mexico and the US.

As the school director I was responsible for shaping a vision of academic success for all students. I was also tasked with ensuring a hospitable school climate for staff, families, students and community members and associates to our school. Furthermore, I was in charge of cultivating the leadership of our school community members: our board of directors, our teaching, administrative and auxiliary staff and our parent and student communities.

I created, coordinated, integrated, implemented and evaluated the preK-11th grade international, bilingual and environmental curriculum at the school. I also developed and led parent education at the school. Another primary responsibility was teacher coaching, supervision and training via classroom observations, targeted coaching sessions and focused professional development for staff.

I taught kindergarten in the schools dual immersion, environmental education program.

I coordinated the school’s Dual Language program and taught kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd grade and worked as the ELL teacher.
