The grant operates in three states and impacts teachers and students in grades 6, 7, and 8. As coordinator, I manage much of the day-to-day operation of the grant and oversee our school partners. I work collaboratively with the PIs, assist in the collection and analysis of data, develop measures, prepare and conduct teacher professional learning with other members of the team, work with the evaluator, and manage undergraduate and graduate research assistants. The program focuses on helping students develop reading, writing, speaking, critical thinking, research, and presentation skills that will help them be successful at American institutions of higher education. The program also prepares students for the TOEFL and IELTS examinations. I provided strategic leadership for the School of Language Studies and managed a staff of both full- and part-time ESL instructors. I was responsible for the oversight and development of curriculum, worked cooperatively with other degree-granting programs and schools, designed professional development for faculty, collected program data, and oversaw student progress and student satisfaction. Mid-Atlantic Association of IB World Schools2010.09-2013.09(3 years)The Mid-Atlantic Association of International Baccalaureate (IB) World Schools is a regional group of IB schools that was formed to provide networking and professional development for teachers in those schools. The Association is recognized by the IB but is an independent entity. The Mid-Atlantic Association of IB World Schools represents approximately 175 IB schools in Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, District of Columbia, and Pennsylvania. I provided expertise regarding university recognition and credit for this association. Additionally, I wrote an executive summary regarding a statute in Virginia requiring comparable credit policies for Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate programmes. I also provided research support for a Maryland legislative effort in 2011. Further, I was one of two people responsible for all aspects for an inaugural IB College Fair in April 2012 held at American University, Washington, DC, and a 2nd fair held in April 2013 at Gar-Field High School, Woodbridge, VA. Tasks included university recruitment, arena logistics, pre-fair session planning, member school signup, budget, traffic coordination, post-fair survey, and data analysis.
