    With leadership responsibility for this top tier, economically disadvantaged institution comprising 100+ faculty and staff, a student population of approximately 750, and the only school in the RCSD to offer IB, AVID, and an advanced high school ASD program, key accountabilities include: utilizing data to move school initiatives and to continually evaluate program effectiveness and student achievement; recruiting, hiring, supervising, and mentoring faculty and administrative teams; promoting a culture of academic excellence imbued with high expectations and a support system to promote student success; providing leadership relative to all facets of Curriculum and Instruction with emphasis on IB and AP program growth; employing a strong background in Special Education and expertise to ensure a fully supported and empowered SE program of excellence; and successfully advocating for the budgetary, personnel, and academic needs of the school with Central Office staff. Highlights include graduating 81.4% of our students in August 2021, up from 59% when I began as principal; doubling the number of students enrolled in the IB program (including English Language Learners and the first two students with Autism Spectrum Disorders in 2021); leading the successful implementation of the IB MYP and aligning it with Wilson Magnet’s IB Diploma Program; establishing a productive partnership with AVID to accelerate college readiness, particularly with respect to first-generation college students; providing leadership in navigating COVID-19; promoting equity and access through the implementation of implicit bias training, restorative practices, culturally responsible teaching, and trauma informed practice; building high performance special education teams; supporting the school’s nationally award-winning X-Cats FIRST Robotics competition teams; and partnering with Dr. Aligne and the URMCs Hoekelman Center to connect students with youth-centric opportunities within the community.
