China is no longer an unattractive destination, rich in history and culture, and various scenic spots. And with its recent economic growth, international interest in China is growing. However, many foreign tourists are not sure what kind of Chinese visa application they need to submit to go to China.

China tourist visa

Chinese tourist visa is probably the most common type of visa nowadays. With this visa, you can visit China and travel freely to almost all parts of the country. There are restrictions on Tibet and additional travel permits are required.

You need:

Your passport is valid for at least six months,

Complete Chinese visa application form,

Color passport photos,

Copies of your itinerary, hotel reservations and round-trip tickets, or invitations from local friends, including your location and details,

You may also be asked to provide proof that you have time off and when you will return to work,

You may be asked to provide a 6-month bank statement to prove your ability to support yourself,

It's easy to apply for a Chinese tourist visa. Just complete the above documents and fees and send them to the Chinese Embassy in your country. Transit visa:

G visa is only necessary for some foreign citizens who will transit through China but have stopovers between flights.

If your airport does not have an international transfer area, and you can stay at the airport without any entry, this visa may be necessary because you need a visa to transfer before waiting for your continued flight.

The airport may issue a 24-hour residence permit in China, and "g" type transit visa is not common. You should ask the travel agency if you really need a visa, or if you can stay at the airport.

Crew visa (c):

Visa C is for foreign travel agents who will transit in China. The application requirements are the same as other visas, but the applicant also needs to submit an invitation letter from a Chinese enterprise (such as a shipping company) or a guarantee letter from the employer.

Business visa (M: trade or business / F: Cultural Exchange)

Traditionally, both M & F visas have been granted to businessmen who do business in China but do not work in local companies.

Today's most common type is the M visa, which is applicable to foreigners engaged in trade and business activities here.

Visa F used to be granted most of the time, but is now more specifically for people who participate in exchange programs (such as sports, health, cultural or scientific research). If you are traveling for business in China, you should obtain visa M.

Important tips

Before you go to China, please check the visa requirements of Chinese embassy or consulate carefully, because China's visa policy, especially their visa free policy, may cause confusion and change from time to time. Sometimes, the visa rules may be interpreted differently by various cruise companies or local officials at the port of entry.

In order to avoid any possible confusion or inconvenience, we suggest that each passenger planning to use any visa free policy should first check with the relevant entry port of China or the Chinese Embassy and consulate in China before going to China. Before you board a flight to China, you can also ask the airline to check whether you can obtain a visa free entry permit upon arrival. If you are not sure if you are eligible for a visa free entry permit, you can apply for a regular transit visa or a tourist visa in your own country.
