Teaching English as a non-native English speaker in China

It is not appropriate to limit the ability to teach English just to those who are already proficient in the language. We are all aware of the fact that there is a large population of individuals who speak English to an exceptionally high degree of fluency in countries where English is not the predominant language. These people come from a variety of different countries.

However, if you are not a resident of a country where English is the native language and you want to teach English in China using a Z Visa, it appears that it is getting more difficult to do so in the first-tier cities of China. This is especially the case if you want to teach English in a city where the majority of the population speaks English as their first language. The section that came before this one discussed all of this material in detail. Around this subject, there seems to be a significant amount of doubt, and there is very little in the way of actual data that can be used to support the official viewpoint, regardless of which way you look at it.

There are a number of online services that claim that the government will only grant a Z Visa to native speakers of the language, but there are also a lot of online services that assert that fluency is the most important factor.

I am able to state with absolute clarity that this is the situation since my very own institution makes it quite plain that non-native speakers are not accepted at any of the private language schools in Shenzhen at this moment. On the other hand, a large component of this private sector education is focused at assuaging the concerns of Chinese paying students who demand a "white face" and favor an American or English accent. These students pay for the opportunity to improve their English language skills. Sadly, quiet may be purchased with money.

Having said that, there are a number of teachers working here who are from countries where English is not the native language. These nations include: It is not feasible to determine whether or not these instructors have the Z Visa, thus it is conceivable that they are operating illegally.

If you are a non-native teacher who is seeking for employment in the industry, I would urge that you ask this question right off the bat as one of the first things you do in your job search. You need to find out whether or not you will be able to get a Z visa, and if there is even the slightest possibility of this not happening, you should proceed with the utmost care since you may end yourself working without the appropriate authorization.

If you are unsuccessful in the cities of the first tier, you should try your luck in the cities of the second or third tier. Because the regulations could be different in each province, you might find that it is not a problem in other regions. This is because the regulations can change from province to province.
