Job responsibilities
Sales Engineer - Marine (SE-M) is the backbone for the development of new Marine business as well as maintaining and developing ongoing business with existing customers.
The SE-M is responsible for maintaining and building up strong direct sales to the Maritime sector. Focus shall be but not limited to vessels in the cursing business, following company’s strategy.
Overall, Purpose of the Role:
Driving sales growth and expanding our market shares in the marine business.
Focus shall be on building strong relationship with key stake holder on all customer’s levels.
Creating a long-term professional business relationship between the Customer and the Company is vital for success in the role of SE-M.
Being "close" to the customer is a must, the purpose is to build up a relationship making the customer to automatically think of OSTBERG when they request any of the products that are in our portfolio.
Sales Engineer- Marine, is responsible to but not limited to, perform Survey on vessels on a global base, to identify the needs on the vessel where Ostberg can provide business in terms of material, Installation and Service to secure that correct information is provided to the company for creation of correct reports and quotations.
Creation of reports and quotation will be handled by the in-house Centralized Sales Support, who are stationed at Ostberg office.
Follow-up of reports and quotations are also handled by Centralized Sales Support.
The reason for that these tasks are handled by Centralized Sales Support is, a) reduce administrative work for the SE-M., b) ensure a timely follow-up without impact due e.g., traveling, and c) ensure that complete data/information is collected so that a3rd person in the company can make a correct interpretation of the provided data / information.
SE-M is also responsible to explore opportunities to extend Ostberg’s business and based on such findings, suggest new business opportunities to top management.
The product portfolio might vary over time and is solely decided by the company.
Most important Key Responsibilities (KPI):
Create the awareness at all Cursing companies of Ostberg and what Ostberg can offer, promote the whole portfolio that’s relevant for the customer segment.
Create extensive business with all main Cruising Companies, globally.
Perform detailed surveys using the company’s forms and routines.
Support the Centralized Sales Support with information needed to fully understand the reports provided.
Attend and support the installation team during Dry-Docks or installation in Service.
Promote our product(s) to major yards/design institute and consultant.
General
Monitor market trends and competitor activities.
Identify new sales leads and potential markets.
When so is needed the SE- M might also be requested to perform installation and service, this shall be seen as a normal task included in the position as SE-M. This might be as own task as well as a team member, in the installation team.
Customer Communication and Relationship Management:
Safeguard that customers have enough knowledge to provide correct and adequate information at orders for lean order handling and production.
Coordinating and scheduling meetings, demonstrations, and follow-up calls.
Conducting routine check-ins, gathering feedback to ensure continued client satisfaction.
Ensure that customers receive prompt, accurate information. Focusing attention to details, building trust and strengthening relationships.
Support and coordinate installation and after-sales service were requested.
Support and coordinate internal and external discussions / actions and records for claim handling to ensure continued client satisfaction.
Work location and traveling
Stationed in Ostberg Kunshan office.
Location can be changed following company's strategy and location.
70-80% of travel of the working time is requested to ensure a presence in the area, making the customers feel that we are present leading to increased business, trust and orders.
Marine business is a global business. Therefore, travel is estimated to be 70-80% of working time “outside” the office is seen as normal.
During normal working hours traveling, the employee is expected to perform administrative work that is suitable to be performed during traveling.
Adequately dressed for the specific purpose, uphold a good dress code adjusted to the specific task and situation.
Job Requirements

* English, high level in speaking and writing
