Observes and reports the effectiveness of medications and treatments Ensures an adequate amount of supplies and medication are available Receives and delivers a variety of information regarding the residents’ medical, social, functional and other needs Participates in the receiving and giving of shift reports Communicates with residents, family and staff as necessary to ensure the resident receives appropriate care from the interdisciplinary team Completes the initial admission nursing assessment tool on a newly admitted resident. Assists with the development of the Minimum Data Set (MDS) assessments, ongoing quarterly reviews, and care plans Supervises subordinate staff and assists as need with direct resident care for the completion of Activities of Daily Living (ADL’s) including bathing, dressing, observations, treatment, and summary of resident progress. Conducts and participates in in-service training and staff development programs for regularly employed staff Attends and participates in staff meetings May collect and analyze data for quality improvement and infection control programs Trains/orients new employees Performs other technical duties as assigned (e.g. collects specimens, responds to emergency situations rapidly and appropriately)Learn more about the Paid Parental Leave pilot program here.
