Job responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
• To share a commitment to the successful implementation of the mission, vision and values of IP Shanghai.
• To implement and deliver an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for pupils, incorporating the areas of learning for the Early Years Foundation Stage in line with the policies of the school.
• To facilitate, support and monitor the overall progress and development of the children-setting high expectations and standards for both the children and your own performance.
• To foster a learning environment and educational experience which provides pupils with the opportunity to fulfil their individual potential.
• To share in the development of the IP curriculum, courses of study, teaching materials, teaching programmes, methods of teaching and assessment and their review.
• To actively promote English and Chinese language development through a range of appropriate and personalised learning mechanisms.
• To support and contribute to the school’s responsibility for safeguarding children and supporting their wellbeing.
• To model and promote the core IP values of Respect, Independence, Creativity and Courage.
• To work collaboratively as part of a 4 person teaching team, supporting your colleagues and adhering best practice to ensure the best outcomes for the children.
• To effectively communicate with parents, sharing positive news and celebrations on a regular basis.
• Provide opportunities for the school community to be involved with the Kindergarten through Open Days and Celebration Events.
Job Requirements
Basic Education: Bachelor’s degree and relevant teaching qualification in early years/primary/secondary teaching.
Language: Native English speaker (basic level of spoken Chinese would be advantageous)
Working Experience: A minimum of 2 years relevant education experience.
Professional Knowledge and Experience
• Excellent Early Years Practitioner with a thorough understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage and a commitment to the highest standards of teaching and learning
• A clear understanding of how young children learn and the ability to plan for effective and high quality teaching and learning
• An understanding of the principles and practices of observations, assessment and planning and how these can be used effectively to maximize pupil progress for all groups of children
• To have experiences of working with children with SEND
• The ability to meet all children’s needs to ensure every child makes good progress including those with English as an additional language and children with additional or complex needs or disabilities
• To be able to manage behaviour effectively using a range of strategies.
• Experience of planning and organising an enabling learning environment inside and outside
• A positive approach to the outdoors and the ability to use the outdoor environment to support children across all areas of learning
• To lead by example through consistently high quality practice in all areas
• The ability to maintain professional and positive relationships with children, staff, parents and external agencies
