Job responsibilities
1. Teaching Responsibilities: a. Teach Lower Secondary Humanities, incorporating elements of history, geography, and related social sciences. b. Deliver engaging and effective lessons in IGCSE and A-Level History and Geography, ensuring curriculum standards are met. c. Use innovative teaching methods to inspire and challenge students, catering to a variety of learning styles and abilities. 2. Curriculum Development and Planning: a. Develop and implement lesson plans and schemes of work aligned with the school's academic goals and examination board requirements. b. Ensure progression of skills and knowledge across year groups and subjects. c. Contribute to the development and enhancement of the Humanities curriculum. 3. Assessment and Feedback: a. Prepare and assess coursework, assignments, and examinations in line with IGCSE/A-Level standards. b. Provide constructive feedback to support students' academic growth and performance improvement. 4. Pastoral and Extracurricular Engagement: a. Act as a form tutor and support the school's pastoral care programme. b. Participate in and contribute to school events, activities, and initiatives related to the humanities, such as cultural trips and competitions. 5. Professional Development: a. Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices and advancements in teaching history, geography, and the broader humanities. b. Collaborate with colleagues to share expertise and improve teaching practices within the department.
Job Requirements
Qualifications and Requirements: • A bachelor’s degree (or higher) in History, Geography, Education, or a related field. • A recognized teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, or equivalent). • Experience teaching Lower Secondary Humanities and IGCSE/A-Level History and Geography. • Strong knowledge of the Cambridge curriculum is highly desirable. • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. • A commitment to student-centered teaching and fostering a supportive and inclusive classroom environment. • Clean and clear background check.
