How To Get A Visa To China

If you are going to China, you need a passport and visa. A visa is a permit that allows an alien to enter, travel or leave a particular country. In order to obtain a visa to China, you need to apply to the nearest Chinese embassy or consulate. The visa is issued for the purpose of your travel and has a different period of validity.

With the required passports, supporting documents and visa fees, applicants need to follow several steps to obtain a Chinese visa. The application of conventional visas such as China tourist visa (L visa) and China transit visa (g visa) only needs simple steps, while other visas such as China work visa (z), student visa (x) and family reunion visa (q) have additional requirements.

How To Get A Visa To China

In order to obtain a Chinese visa, applicants need to prepare some materials to prove their legal identity and the purpose of their visit. The most important requirements are basic documents, including your passport and a complete visa application form. Supporting documents related to your itinerary, such as air tickets, hotel reservation records, visit schedule, etc., are also very helpful.

Basic documents

① Passport: original and 2 blank visa pages of valid passport with a validity of at least 6 months, as well as copies of passport information pages.

② Visa application form: a completed China visa application form (to be downloaded, completed and signed).

④ Legal residence certificate: if you do not apply for a Chinese visa in your home country, you need to submit the original and copy of the valid visa, relevant work, study, residence and legal residence certificate.

⑤ Previous Chinese passports and Chinese visas: if you have Chinese nationality and acquired foreign nationality, you must submit the original and copy of the date page of the previous Chinese passport; if you have ever obtained the Chinese visa on the old passport, you should submit the copy of the date page and the copy of the previous Chinese visa.

How To Get A Visa To China-Supporting documents

China Travel (L) visa: travel itinerary materials, including round-trip air tickets and hotel booking records, or invitations from Chinese individuals / companies.

The invitation shall include the name, gender, date of birth, itinerary of arrival and departure date of the invitee, place of visit and the name, telephone number, address and signature of the invitee or relevant information of the company.

China business (m) visa: business activity documents and Trade Fair Invitation Letter of China's trading partners.

Chinese student (x) visa: the original and copy of the admission notice of Chinese schools or recruitment institutions, and the original and copy of the application for Chinese study abroad visa (form JW201 / JW202).

Family reunion (Q1 / Q2) visa: invitation letter of Chinese citizens or foreigners with permanent residency in China; copy of ID card or foreign passport / permanent residence card of the invitee; original and copy of family relationship certificate, etc.
