Chinese Resume

I want to work in China, but I'm not sure where to start my resume in Chinese? This article provides you with general and specific skills for Chinese resumes for Chinese companies/employers. Hopefully, that means you don't have to stare at blank pages anymore.

An effective resume will quickly highlight your identity, scope and information about your recent education or training experience. Adapting your resume to the Chinese market is important, but not a daunting task. It can be similar to any other resume you write without a lot of changes. There are no strict regulations on a resume, but you are usually welcome to use 1-2 pages of resume (if you need to submit two copies of resume, one in English and one in Chinese, it can be 4 pages in total).

1. Personal information

This is quite different from the personal information in the resumes of western countries and China. On Chinese resumes, recruiters want to see more personal information, such as full name, gender, date of birth, recent picture, address, contact information (such as phone number and email address). It must be mentioned that you should also include your marital status, number, and age of your children.

Self-evaluation is an indispensable part of Chinese resume. You should give yourself a brief introduction and why you should be hired for the job.

2. Work experience

You should list your work experience in reverse order, first.

Experience should summarize information such as position, company name, duration, and job responsibilities.

It would be superfluous if you could describe successful project experience and skills learned from the project.

3. Education background

From your highest degree to high school, put your educational experience here, including the following information: degree, duration, major, university name. Awards or achievements in your education or previous work.

4. Language ability

You should summarize her language ability. As far as your Chinese level is concerned, please don't simply say that her language level is poor or basic.

5. Project experience/achievements

If you are looking for work in the Internet industry, this part is very important. If you have successful project experience, it will leave a deep impression on the recruiter. Relevant data should also be included. You are more likely to be called for an interview.

When formatting a resume:

Font size: never less than 10 sections, otherwise it will be a challenge for the HR Director.

Font style: avoid using some art fonts, Times New Roman is recommended.

Resume page: resume should not exceed 2 pages. Usually only one page is enough, unless you have more than 10 years of experience.

Avoid too many colors: up to 2 colors throughout the CV.

Resume file format: do not save your resume in a Microsoft Word document because word files have many file extensions. Saving it as a PDF file is a good choice.

Tip: when sending a resume, change your resume name to a more formal document. For example, full name + resume / resume + company name (optional)
