Performing automated synthesis of modified oligonucleotides using ABI394 DNA synthesizers in compliance with UKAS accreditation and strict internal standards (ISO 9001, 13485 & 14001). Preparing the instruments, reagents, and amidites for subsequent synthesis. Performing instrument checks, priming and appropriate checks ensuring good GMP standards. Maintaining a safe and clean environment in compliance with good GLP standards. Setting up and prioritizing synthesis runs following strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure all work completed accordingly to meet departmental as well as corporate KPIs. Performing general lab housekeeping duties and adhering to strict EHS standards. Carrying out manual deprotection of oligonucleotides from the solid phase and preparing them for downstream purification using High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) / Reverse Phase Chromatography (RP) / PAGE / Desalting / Ethanol Precipitation Complete all necessary documentation and appropriate filing and updating the electronic database (LIM system) to reflect the process/stage of each sample. Undertook a voluntary position in 6S Safety team which entails weekly inter- departmental audits, scheduling meetings on how to implement/improve core safety principles in the laboratory to improve efficacy of the lean manufacturing process following 5S Sigma manufacturing standards utilising COSHH and EHS practices.
