Summary

Hi there! My name is Verusha and and I am a Candidate Architect (Assistant Architect) from South Africa. I completed my Master of Professional Architecture Degree in November 2024 from the University of Pretoria. I was privileged to be raised in a home where my father was very passionate about the built environment, having growing up poor during apartheid, as a man of colour, he was never able to pursue his dreams of becoming a civil engineer. This passion however still lives in him, a passion he cultivated in me from a young age. I have always been a creative: artist, musician, creative writer, horticulturalist... I also have a deep passion for education and when my creativity and academic nature collided in my late teens I found the love for architecture and design as the outworking that gave me a sense of place. I am a proud African and an even more proud designer. Birthed in the first generation of a free South Africa, educated by passionate designers who inspired me to find ways that architecture and design could solve issues that free other nations and people. After 5 years of studies and 2+ years of work experience I have a deep passion for urban psychology, and place making. A legacy and ideology I wish to further explore and inspire others to pursue too.
