From short-life smartphone batteries to 100km-autonomy electrical cars, the enhancement of storage capacity is a common theme followed by many research projects worldwide. Supercapacitors have recently grown interest by bridging the gap between high power capacitors and high energy Li-ion batteries. However, for a significant penetration in the market, these devices have the improve their weight, energy density and their price. My work was focused on the last one : • Investigated a new way of producing graphene-based activated carbon using orange peel that dramatically drops the price helped by SEM, TEM, Raman spectra and XRD analysis • Developed a process of low-cost supercapacitors production reaching 85% of the impedance improvement from the raw material • Discovered a fascinating culture and made strong relationships with local people by giving scientific presentations in English and visits of several Chinese factories.
