As a New Freshman and Non-Resident Admissions Counselor, I spearhead our non-resident recruitment efforts and work with any prospective students residing outside of Wisconsin and Minnesota. Additionally, I am responsible for overseeing the distribution of over $500,000 of merit-based scholarship opportunities for non-resident students.While my recruitment region encompasses a significant portion of the United States, I primarily travel and recruit in Northern Illinois and the Suburbs of Chicago. Annually, I conduct over 120 visits to high schools as well as attend over 25 college fair events, where Im able to connect with prospective students and their families. Additionally, each Spring I plan and host our annual Taste of La Crosse in Chicago recruitment event for admitted students within the Chicago suburbs and throughout Northern Illinois. This event allows them to connect with other admitted UWL students, learn more about important next steps, and here from current UWL students about their experience.In my first year as the Non-Resident Admissions Counselor, we saw a growth in non-resident applications, deposits, and enrolled students; despite the removal of Illinois from the Midwest Student Exchange Program. This in part due to the implementation of a more aggressive recruitment plan as well as an increase in the number of scholarship award offerings that were distributed.When Im not traveling to Illinois and interacting with students in their high schools or at college fairs, I conduct presentations about UW-La Crosse and the admissions process, assist with campus tours, conduct meetings with students, assist with large campus visit days, and answer student questions about the admissions process and various aspects of the university.

As a Lead Ambassador within the UW-Stevens Point Office of Admissions and Recruitment, I served as the student supervisor for 25 student ambassadors within our office. My primarily responsibilities revolved around scheduling ambassadors for campus events (including: campus visits, admitted students days and viewpoint days, and shifts within our office) by utilizing Microsoft Outlook and WhenIWork. I worked collaboratively with the Lead Ambassador for Communication to monitor the quality of our tours as well as plan training and social events. I also assist in onboarding and training new student ambassadors.

This internship provided me experience in various higher education marketing and public relations areas, such as: marketing, special events, social media, media relations, and admissions and recruitment. As the Marketing and Public Relations Intern, I assisted with a variety of marketing campaigns, like: UWSPs COVID-19 Wear a Mask Campaign, the Hit Submit Campaign, the production of admissions recruitment materials, and the coordination of special events (Retirement receptions, Commencement, award ceremonies, etc.) Further, in this role I assisted with video and photo shoots, created of blog posts, and wrote content for various internal and external communications.

I was elected from among my peers in the Student Senate to lead the Legislative Branch and represent their interests when collaborating with the Executive Branch, Faculty, University Staff, Administrators, and Legislators. I supervised 30 Student Senators and guided them in finding their passions and accomplishing their goals by directing them towards various campus resources. Furthermore, I coordinated professional development and educational opportunities to assist Senators in understanding various aspect of the university and becoming stronger leaders within their community. Lastly, I compiled agenda materials for the weekly General Assembly meetings and set and distributed the materials in accordance with Wisconsin Opens Meetings Laws.

As a Student Ambassador within the UW-Stevens Point Office of Admissions and Recruitment, I provided an exciting and interactive visit experience to prospective students who visit UW-Stevens Point. I assisted callers inquiring about transcripts, applications decisions, and directed them towards other necessary campus resources when managing the front desk. Additionally, I assisted our recruitment staff by compiling visit folders, preparing admit packets, and other necessary packets of information. I also Co-hosted Tour Tuesday, where we took over the UWSP Snapchat and showcased various entities around campus.

I worked directly with the Director of Recruitment and the Director for Enrollment Management to develop a recruitment manual for UWSPs Recruiters and Admissions Counselors. Within this role, I collected information on all academic programs, student support services, athletic and recreational activities, administrative offices, and other services provided by the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Additionally, the information collected is being used for a new marketing campaign to assist in recruiting students and reshape the image of our academic programs.

I welcomed First-Year and Transfer students to our university by creating an exciting and welcoming space for them to become comfortable and make new friends. I often was the first face that students saw as they entered into our University Centers building. I assisted in directing students and their families towards check-in, as well as worked the photo booth to provide students a picture to remember this the important day. As we progressed through the day, I lead a group of 5-10 students in various actives; including ice breakers, account activation, email set-up, etc. Following lunch, I worked with same group of students and assisted them in advising and registering for classes.

I was elected by the student body to represent over 7,000 students at the university, local, state, and federal levels. As Student Body Vice President, it is my primary responsibility to act as a representative of the student body and advocate for student decision-making, the student voice, and the various interests of the student body. While I represented the student body, the majority of my work lead me to collaborating and forming professional relationships with university administrators, faculty, staff, and state and local legislators. Additionally, I co-headed the Executive Branch with the Student Body President and assisted them in hiring and supervising an Executive team of 14 individuals. I also served as the primary contact for all shared governance organizations at UWSP and within the UW System. Lastly, I chaired our weekly General Assembly/Senate meetings.
