Irish Development Team: delivered market and competitor research projects; this included analysis of wind environment , and grid access application initiatives. Updated Irish grid and planning tracker, and responded to Irish enquiries. Planning: analysed biodiversity requirements for solar sites in the UK, and researched large-scale solar planning laws and environment in Australia.

(1 year 10 months) Assistant at ‘Jolly Nice’, a converted petrol station to a organic: farm shop and takeaway café. I served customers and handled money.

Justo Mouriño is an Argentine professional polo player with a handicap of 3 goals. I spent 3 months looking after 6 horses to a high level. We were based in a very remote area 6 hours from Buenos Aires. I was able to not only experience local rural Argentine culture on a cattle ranch but to also understand the challenges of this way of life. I was able to improve my Spanish become nearly fluent.

Estani runs an adventure holiday company in Argentina with horses. I started my gap year here for the initial 3 weeks helping him with the more rudimentary parts of his operation and often working completely independently. Thinking on my feet was essential in rural Argentina. I was responsible for looking after paying guests from overseas who expected a high level of service. Responsibilities included anything from looking after and tacking up horses at a moment’s notice to socialising with guests.

The Crown Inn is a 17th century authentic village pub. This job consisted mainly of washing up although it was not long before I was asked to assist the chef. As a keen cook this was a welcome upgrade.
