Guided around 12 high school student team finish 3 Synthetic Biology field projects, probiotics for preventing and curing caries, engineering yeasts for raw starch conversion, Biosynthesis of medicinal tropane alkaloids in yeast. Teams attend IGEM(International Genetically Engineered Machine competition) in October for awarding. Organized the team to conduct background research to establish a business plan. Optimizied the business strategy and marketing plan according to the result of the survey and specialist interview. Led the team to write articles on social media and launch lectures to promote the idea. Led three teams, and two teams obtained the Entrepreneurship Award, which is 5% among global teams. Two team obtained gold award, which is 10% among global teams

Designed Emergency Braking System (EBS) for the electric racing vehicle to stop the vehicle with mechanical methods. Proposed a method of using springs as a media of energy storage and electromagnet as the actuator. The system actuates on the braking pedal to achieve braking. Updated the progress of the design with the EBS team and presented the design to the electric and software system at the preliminary design stage.

Designed and assembled In Vitro Diagnostic (IVD) product’s module structures using Solidworks while collaborating with the electrical and software team. Made Engineering Drawings and BOM tables.Was responsibling for the mechanical design of three projects: the Decapper Module, the Emergency Diagnostic machine and the Lab Experimental machine. The machines are composed of machined components, sheet metal components, motor and rail. Tested and adjusted the machine to fulfill motion requirements in 1 week. The machine was eventually shipped to the company’s lab in Palo Alto for optical testing. Introduced innovative solutions to the algorithm team to solve the shaky machine arm problem with the knowledge of feedback control. Presented the IVD product’s mechanism and engineering challenges to the Research and Development team with above 50 people, including mechanical, electrical and software teams, to give a holistic understanding of the product.
