Dear Sir or Madame, I am a British citizen who has been working both as a university English lecturer/tutor and as a proofreader/editor in a number of countries since 1997. My most recent teaching position was teaching courses on Academic Writing to university students at Koç University, Istanbul. I have done this since 2013 but, as you can see from my resume, I taught ESP and EFL at a number of universities and schools before that from 1997. While in Japan, I provided feedback and advice on high school students’ essays, which I think would be highly relevant to this position. I am currently the English Text Editor of Koç University’s Journal of Ankara Studies and have edited the annual human resource reports for Finansbank (a high-street Turkish bank) since 2013. I also edited the annual sustainability reviews for Coca-Cola (Eurasia & Africa Group) for a number of years, a book on the history of the Republic of Venice, and an autobiography. In addition to these major projects, I have proofread/corrected and translated countless doctoral theses and commercial reports. I have a good working knowledge of Turkish and am able to translate from Turkish into native level English. I recently moved to a more rural environment in Turkey and am looking for online opportunities to continue proofreading or editing work from my new location. I work well both individually and as part of a team and have a scrupulous attention to both detail and to a job well done.
