Having become business-fluent in Mandarin, in 2017 I moved to Beijing to consolidate my skills and gain practical experience within a Chinese law firm, joining Kangxin Partners as a Legal Consultant. Working within their legal department on contentious and non-contentious IP matters for international clients, I conducted legal research, drafting and editing English language materials, chaired meetings with international clients, and provided translation and interpretation assistance to attorneys. Whilst at the firm I set up partnerships with a number of companies to provide IP services for their clients. In addition to this I trained staff on intercultural communication, and organised training sessions for international staff on Chinese trademark law.

A comprehensive LL.M covering the broad scope of China’s political-legal landscape. I researched and wrote my LL.M thesis on use of knowledge-graph based AI in China’s Smart Courts; this was subsequently published by Taylor & Francis.
