What documents do foreigners need for employment in China?
1. Work permit: Foreigners are required to obtain a work permit in order to work in China. This document is issued by the local Foreign Affairs Bureau, mainly to confirm that a foreigner is legally qualified to engage in the occupation in China.
2. Residence Permit: After obtaining a work permit, foreigners need to apply for a work-based residence permit from the local Exit-Entry Administration. The validity period of the residence permit is usually the same as that of the work visa.
Special attention should be paid to the fact that the processing of the above documents requires the preparation of a large number of notarized, translated and certified documents, which takes a certain amount of time and effort.
Remarks:
If the work permit is void, invalid, expired, or if the employer stated in the employment permit is not the same as the employer who actually provided the labor, the foreign employee holding the work permit will be considered as illegally employed.
