COUNTRY MANAGER - CHINASmall but expanding international trading and manufacturing business is looking for a hands-on, detail-oriented individual to replace its China manager returning to the U.S. We have a metal working factory in Qingpu and an office in XuhuiJia, Shanghai. Overseas operations include an office and warehouse in New Jersey and a factory and office in Brazil. Our preference is for an expat already in China with experience in trade and manufacturing BUT we might consider someone already in China if they had language skills and the bravery to step into the job. Job Description: • Manage our growing contract manufacturing business (parts, components and finished goods we source throughout China)• Oversee our factory: insuring quality and cost competitiveness of items we manufacture and spearheading the development of new products at the direction of management • Implementing ERP software currently under development and improving office and factory procedures with an eye towards applying for ISO certification• Occasional direct contact with customers regarding technical matters and if interested the potential to increase your income by bringing in and servicing new clients directly• Management of China office personnelQualifications and Education: •Mandarin speaker - ability to converse with staff in Mandarin a must (fluency not necessary, but we expect this person to be able to work with our non-English speaking staff and factory staff directly and not through interpreters). Written Chinese a plus but not required•Position requires U.S. educated individual or substantial living experience in N. America. Preference given to native English speakers•Interest in production mandatory - this job will require significant factory time as we bring new products to market and the candidate interacts with both our factory personnel and other suppliers• Engineering background not required but must be an individual with good logic skills, common sense and a nose for the B.S. that is constantly fed foreigners in China •Candidate must be honest, organized, and careful. Long hours can be expected to insure the high level of service and quality customers expect from a foreign company compared to our local competition

The country manager in China will have wide latitude to improve office and factory operations and the freedom to succeed and share in the success of the business.•For someone with limited business experience but excellent communication and leadership skills, this would be a paid learning opportunity but we might hire a more experienced Chinese counterpart to assist in day-to-day management. You would be the eyes and ears of ownership and in addition to management, be tasked with developing our web presence and sales to other markets.
