Work experience
Professor of Environmental Sciences
The University of Haripur, Pakistan2020.10-Current(6 years)Lead research on the occurrence, transport, and fate of organic and inorganic pollutants in complex environmental systems. Current work focuses on the impacts of climate change, urbanization, and industrialization on soil moisture and groundwater resources, and on sustainable urban solid waste management.Professor
Hunan Agricultural University, Changsha, PR China2021.05-2023.06(2 years)Courses taught: Environmental Impact Assessment; Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development; Introduction to Environmental Geology; Sustainable Futures; Environmental Meteorology Description of duties: Teaching and AssessmentPrincipal Scientist
Nuclear Institute for Food and Agriculture (NIFA), Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission, Peshawar, Pakistan2019.01-2020.10(2 years)Developed and validated analytical methods (GC-ECD, GC-FID, GC–MS/MS) for pesticide residues in food and environmental matrices. Led long-term monitoring of pesticide contamination in fruits and vegetables and developed post-harvest and bioremediation approaches to reduce residue levels. Contributed to food safety and environmental quality assessment programs.Associate Professor
Institute of Urban Environment, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Xiamen, PR China2017.04-2019.01(2 years)Conducted advanced research on contaminants of emerging concern (CECs), including pharmaceuticals and antibiotics, using state-of-the-art LC–MS/MS and Q-ToF MS. Investigated environmental fate, transformation products, and biodegradation pathways using receptor modeling, multivariate statistics, and microalgal bioreactors. Applied molecular tools (16S rRNA sequencing) to examine microbial controls on contaminant degradation in aquatic systems. The key projects included: 1. Development of new methods for the determination of contaminants of emergingconcerns (CECs), including, Pharmaceutical and Personal Care Products (PPCPs),endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) and antibiotics in complex solid matrices likesediments, soil, poultry feed and animal manures by liquid chromatography withtandem quadrupole mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). 2. Monitoring of CECs and other organic contaminants in water and complex solidmatrices from riverain ecosystems, wastewater, wastewater treatment systems andagricultural settings. 3. Fate of antibiotics in the natural environmental conditions as well as in microcosm. 4. Contribution of different biotic and abiotic factors in the natural attenuation of contaminants by employing structural equation modeling technique. 5. Batch culture and reactor scale biodegradation of antibiotics by microalgae. 6. Use of various source apportionment models, chemometric approaches and spatial econometrics to explain various complex environmental phenomenon related to micropollutants and microbial diversity in the aquatic environment. 7. Co-supervision/mentoring of M.S. and Ph.D. studentsPrincipal Scientist
