After a three-year epidemic, the policy on entry of foreigners to China has finally been liberalized. Below, we give you a brief summary of the latest visa application requirements for foreigners coming to China in 2023.
Visa types available
Visa types C, D, F, J1, J2, L (for those traveling to China in a group tour (more than 5 people)), M, Q1, Q2, R, S1, S2, X1, X2, and Z.
Visa-free personnel
(I) Foreigners subject to various types of mutual visa exemption agreements
(B) Foreigners holding valid Chinese permanent residence certificates
(C) Foreigners holding valid residence permits of various types
(D) Foreigners holding valid APEC Business Travel Card (excluding virtual card)
Visa Application Process
(1) The applicant logs into the Embassy's website and enters the online form page to fill in the visa application form online.
(2) After completing the online form, make an appointment for visa processing.
(3) Submit the application materials to China Visa Application Service Center with fingerprints according to the appointment time.
Notes
(a) Except for the temporary suspension of visas for traveling to the Mainland for tourism and medical purposes, all other visas will be accepted in accordance with the pre-epidemic policy. For those applying for journalist visa, the requirements of the competent authorities shall prevail.
(b) Except for the following persons, other visa applicants must go to the Visa Service Center to have their fingerprints taken and have their faces collected:
1、Persons under the age of 14 or over 70;
2、Those who hold diplomatic passports or are eligible for diplomatic, official, courtesy visa scrutiny;
3、Persons who have applied for visas at the Embassy in China with the same passport within five years and have kept their fingerprints;
4、Ten fingers are missing or all fingerprints cannot be retained.
